My Story
My name is Phillip Lee and I am proud to be Headteacher at All Saints CofE Primary School, part of St Christopher's Trust.
Village Halls are vitally important in rural communities and provide crucial social, economic and health benefits by serving as versatile, inclusive hubs for a wide range of activities, which are otherwise inaccessible. In rural communities, particularly those with an older demographic like ours, village halls foster a strong sense of belonging by providing a central meeting place for residents, some of whom do not have immediate neighbours. The All Saints village hall supports the hamlets of All Saints, Alston, Churchill, Smallridge, Coaxdon, South Common and Waggs Plot. Furthermore, as a school, we rely on access to the Village Hall for PE lessons, school events, school shows etc.
All Saints CofE Primary School have a very active PTFA who make a big difference, particularly in relation to play provision and supporting the arts. In recent years, through their fundraising and grants obtained by the school, they have installed a double metal slide, rubber crumb surfacing for an older piece of play equipment and most recently monkey bars. There is no local playground in All Saints, so the play provision offered at school is vital in helping children engage in one hour of physical activity each day. The current playground markings are faded to the extent that most are invisible! New playground marking are not cheap either! This fundraising, combined with the work of the PTFA, will ensure that we can replace these markings.
