My Story

Who am I?

I'm Legs Le Gallais and I joined the Corps in 1994, starting at the Jersey Field Squadron before joining the Regular Army in 1997. I went on to serve a full 24 year career as a Plant Operator Mechanic and later a Clerk of Works (Construction), finally retiring in January 2021. Although retired, I am still serving as an FTRS soldier, proudly wearing the Corps insignia and currently working back at the home of the Corps in Chatham as an apprenticeship assessor.

Running has become my way of getting fit and giving something back. What started as Saturday parkruns last March has grown into endurance events, including completing the Kent Downs 25 km, and now taking on the Brighton Marathon in support of the Sapper community.

Why am I doing this?

The Royal Engineers Association, the Sapper Charity, supports serving soldiers, veterans and their families when they need it most. I have seen first hand how quietly and effectively that support can change lives, whether through welfare help, mental health support or simply being there when things start to unravel. But they cannot do it alone.

Now you're bit...

Any donation, no matter how small, goes directly to helping those who have given so much. Thank you for your support, it genuinely means more than you know.
