My Story

I am running the Brighton Marathon on 12 April 2026 to raise money for The Martlets Hospice in Hove, in memory of my late mum, who passed away in July this year.

The Martlets Hospice is a local charity that provides terminally ill people in Brighton, Hove and the surrounding areas with the very best care and support. As a local charity, care at The Martlets is only free thanks to the support of local people, businesses and trusts. An NHS grant covers a portion of their costs, but they rely on the community to fund most of their vital services.

In my mum's final days, the Martlets cared for her with kindness and compassion. Not only did they provide a fantastic service to my mum, they also supported my family and I through a very difficult time.

I am running this marathon to raise money for The Martlets, who, like many other hospices, now face an enormous financial threat. Hospice UK has warned that 380 beds are currently out of use in hospices across England - an increase of more than 25% since last year, when 300 beds were reported out of use. My mum worked for the NHS her whole life making positive change for others, and by raising money for The Martlets she would be most proud!

Any donations small or large will be hugely appreciated and go a very long way!
